True Blood - Guilty Pleasure - Altered Book Spread

The theme of this altered book was Guilty Pleasures.  I will say my number one Guilty Pleasure is watching True Blood.  I LOVE this show!  So I went all out with my vampire theme - I was a little scared because it was SO OUT THERE from all the other spreads in her book, but it is what it is - a guilty pleasure :)  I used water mixed with red paint and took a straw and blew bubbles into it and tried dripping it to make some blood, but that didn't work so well so I ended up using the straw and dripping it out, then just dry brushed the lighter areas.  Then I added pictures from the show, a few rub-ons I had, and glitter letters for "aw Sookie".  Even though this spread is REALLY OUT THERE, it was one of the most FUN ones I did in the round robin!

Guilt Pleasure was done with my little dymo labeler :)

Thanks for stopping by & checking out some of my art!

  1. Oh Lori, I think this is awesome and yes, it is out there, but awesome none the less! What did the journal owner say about it?

Can you believe that I have never seen one true blood? Just watched Twilight last year.
    Great job! Hugs Pamikins

    1. Pam, I never heard what she thought of it - she wasn't very vocal in our yahoo group we had at the time. Her instructions were pretty vague and basically just to go for it - so even though shocking I hope she appreciated that it was a true guilty pleasure and fit the subject matter.

True Blood is WAY racier than Twilight but I love them both. Different but similar (love triangles, "vegetarian" vampires, good vs. bad vamps) But I've always been into the supernatural/fantasy - I think my complex mind enjoys the strangeness of it.

      HUGS!!!!!

  2. Lori this is incredibly awesome in a disconcerting sort of way....and I mean this as a compliment. Whenever one can create art that evokes emotion, thoughts or feelings into the soul of another then it is truly incredible and you have done a fantastic job. It's like being able to be "out there" in a safe way, don't you think? Thanks for sharing, this is incredible!

  3. Wow - nicely done - I doubt that it would appear weird or out there for all of those Twilight or Vampire book and movie lovers. I think you hit it hardcore!!! I so love many of the embellishments on these pages too - Missing, Friends don't let friends drink friends .... LoL.
    Awesome Lori!

    1. Thank you Rose! It probably isn't out there for us vamp lovers - LOL! But it was quite shocking to a lot of people who know me and I showed when I finished - but I think that shows I went with my emotions about the subject matter - even though out of my comfort zone. And yes "friends don't let friend...." is my FAV LOL!

  4. I love it! I am a True Blood watcher too...I read all the Sookie books before True Blood came on (and loved them), so when I found out they were making a show, I was like "I MUST WATCH ALL THE THINGS!!!" I am an Eric fan...in the book and in the show...hubba hubba... I don't know WHAT they were doing in the season finally this season, but they got a lot of explaining to do next season is all I can say!!!

I love the bite marks/wounds on your page and the "aw Sookie" is AWESOME!!! <3

    1. Sweet Red - YAY - from another True Blood lover who gets it - yay! :) :) :) I just got the Sookie books and when my OCD is quiet enough I hope to read them. I bought a set with gift card on amazon - hope I can start soon. I agree about the season finale - I love Eric (even my husband finds him entertaining and he just watches True Blood with me sometimes) but I already saw his screen test for next season so I know he is at least in the season - they better get it right - LOL! :) THANK YOU <3 <3 <3
